Not the Joneses is a modern Chicago pop/rock band with an alternative edge style all their own. NTJ's groove oriented sounds began in 1993 as the vision of singer-songwriter Mark Chaffee. Complemented by bassist Russell Bergum's Minneapolis punk scene background, the duo spent nearly two years together before signing guitarist Doug Schoenbeck and Vince Consolo on drums. Now a four piece band, NTJ began recording exciting new tracks, and soon produced this self-titled, thirteen track cd on the Chicago based Spire Records. NTJ's sound is fresh, lively and unique. It's a style that's nothing like your next door neighbors. Their collective musical influences come together well in this album to blend a sound that leaves the other out trying to keep up with the Joneses.
