Not the Joneses
Not the Joneses Not the Joneses blow in from the windy city of Chicago with a retro power pop sound full of hooks, tongue in cheek innuendoes as well as healthy doses of truth and humor. Brought together by an ad in the newspaper, Not the Joneses has been a regular on the Chicago club and ministry scene for some years. They have honed their musical and performance chops on hard to please audiences in the Chicago clubs making them one of the best live bands around. Their first self-titled release fits the modern rock format, but brings along some classic rock guitar sounds harkening back to late 70's and early 80's. The band brings sharp musical instincts to personal stories. Mark Chaffee, lead singer and rhythm guitar player, adds a quirky charisma to the band that fills the front man role more than adequately. An hour with the band in concert generally sends the crowd away chanting the hooky anthems and remembering the passion and power of the live performance.Lyrically the band attempts to talk about their faith and life in a manner that is void of cliche and platitudes. Given the diverse performance settings, the band feels it is vital to communicate the truth in a language that is accessible to all. |
