Not the Joneses/CD/Spire Records

Grade:

B-
Well, that's a better grade than I received in philosophy...

Categorey:

Pop
We think it's more like Pop Rocks... Complete with exploding brains!

Lyrics speak from:

The genuine Christian Experience
Above Statement Defined: "Life in general. In CCM; at least you are still alive and have some sembelance of a career." - From the Steve Taylor Christianeese to English Lexicon

Music appropriate for:

A High School Dance
You know, I remeber when R.E.O. Speedwagon played our High School's Senior Prom circa 1976... Of course I was only in 4th grade at the time. Boy was it tough to pass as an 18 year old. Me and Charlie tried crashing the party...

Smells alot like:

Extreme
In fact, we just ordered a case of "eau de Nuno." Hey, Isn't Gary Cherone going to be singing with Van Halen now? Cool.

And Furthermore:

We think they ARE the Joneses Poppy tunes with the occassional hard edge, but Mr. Cleaver would still nod his paternal approval.
Interesting theory; Poppy Tunes with an edge = Joneses. I like that! Unfortunately our name is not derived from the type of music we play, rather our condition as individuals and how this positions us in society as a whole. What was Mr. Cleaver's first name anyway? Meat? ...sorry.

They do mention Nietchze, but clearly haven't read anything by him.
This may sound like quite an obscure reference to those of you who have not yet listened to the CD. Though not stated, I am assuming that the reviewer is referring to the song "God is Dead." This title cites the infamous quote by 19th century Existentialist philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. Said quote appears (among other places) in his work "Also sprach Zarathustra". The reviewer does not qualify his statement in any way, so I am not sure as to how it is clear that I haven't read anything by Nietzsche. By admission, I am not a serious student of the philosophical arts. However, I am not exactly philosophically impaired either. True, I have not read any of Nietzsche's works in their original German context, but I have read enough of their subsequent English translations to know how to spell his name correctly.     Perhaps the name of their web-zine puts it best: Huh?
